So what is the hype about working from home? Better yet, what about starting your own home business?
Do you know that there are thousands upon thousands of internet requests from people who are looking to do just that... start a home business?
So what is everyone looking for? No real work, fast cash and lots ‘n lots of it? Of Course! Aren’t we all?!? Wouldn’t we all just love to be strewn across the Caribbean beaches with our tropical drinks and skimpy bikini hotties (who we pay, of course!) just lathering on the suntan lotion each time the timer of our Cartier watches go off so we can turn over just to keep that even tan!?!
Sorry to burst your bubble, not reality! There are just no get rich quick do it yourself jobs!
However, I must admit... I am one of the many thousands who have answered many, many, MANY inquiries regarding starting my own home business. It’s not that I’m not a hard worker, it’s not that I’m afraid of work I have a great career but I have goals in my life that would be better served if I were more independent and mobile. And besides I’m tired of the corporate world, the politics and long, long hours! So I looked and researched companies that might be able to offer me what I was looking for. So I’d search… and get discouraged and then after a while look and research again. I was doing this for about 18 months! Nothing exciting and several just wanted up front money and couldn’t even articulate what I needed to do to earn the money!
Earlier this year I was on the internet searching for something and selected one of my home business search criteria in error. The sites appeared and one caught my eye. Being one of those people who believe in the principles from Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn, I’ve learned to pay attention to possible opportunities in my life more deliberately.
I also must admit that although some would say I am a pessimist I would say that I’m an optimist tarnished by years of skepticism. So once again, I submitted a request for more information. And guess what? Yep! Someone called me... they ALWAYS call you!!!!
Call it what you will but I polished off my skepticism and felt more open minded about this exchange. First of all the woman was enthused, NOT scripted and seemed very genuine. I liked that! She conferenced me into a 3-way presentation call with several other interested women wanting more information. I had to admit I was getting excited about what I was hearing. At one point though I said to myself...”no, no... don’t get suckered in...” but I hung in and listened right through the end of the 25 min call. I had several questions, which were answered very informatively and honestly by the woman who placed the initial call to me… and if she didn’t have the answer, she called someone right on the spot that did have the answer! One of the things I liked was that they did not pressure me. I asked they answered. They didn’t elaborate and they were down to earth people, very relaxed and enjoying what they were doing.
Now, I’m sure there are about one hundred reasons why I should have just said no, but they really didn’t give me any reason to say no. It all came down to my choice, what I wanted because there was no risk and the investment was very manageable. As well, if I enrolled and decided any time during the first 4 months that I didn’t want to continue... poof, I’d get my money back. They were very open, honest and genuine. AND they spelled out exactly what I needed to do AND how I would get paid AND that there were no limits to how much I could get paid! AND gave me information so I could find out more about the legitimacy of the company they were representing (which, of course, I did!) AND I would get a mentor... AND participate in live and pre-recorded trainings... AND full support... AND 2 web sites to market MY business… AND ALL this… did I say ALL?! YES, ALL completely FREE! Ok, ok... so what did they say again? FREE websites...FREE training... FREE support in my home, any time for however long I want! Can you imagine FREE support and FREE training??? To good to be true, you say? Exactly what I said!!
Ok... so I signed up! For me... the right choice!
So here I am 4 months later... and I’m loving it!! And yes, all they conveyed is absolutely true!
Here is the reality. If you are expecting a company to send you a check for $500, $1000, or even $5000 per month, there HAS to be some benefit to that company. Otherwise, they can’t stay in business. Let’s take a job. You fill out an application or submit a resume and you are hired. The benefit that YOU get from the company is obviously your paycheck. The benefit the COMPANY gets is your effort and eight hours of your day. If you don’t show up and do the work, guess what, you don’t get paid.
The obvious beauty with the right home based company is freedom! Freedom to be your own boss, freedom to manage your own schedule, freedom to be at home and with dedication, drive and passion financial freedom... which we are all looking for!
